Job Description
• Lead mission-level requirements development and verification programs, including defining key capabilities and performance requirements.
• Lead space segment system architecture, design, development, assembly, integration, test, and observatory characterization.
• Work closely with the project teams and NSSTC management to make high-level technical decisions and to implement a successful scientific investigation.
• Maintain ownership of the Interface Control Documents that define compatibility of all interfacing mission elements.
• Ensure science needs are reflected in the mission-level requirements and verify the integrity of all data related to requirements fulfillment and documentation.
• Ensure systems and designs meet all the needs required for the mission.
• Manage technical resources (mass, power, data, pointing, time, etc.).
• Perform system-level trades and analyses.
• Coordinate milestone reviews and associated peer reviews.
• Coordinate specialty engineering activities (contamination control, orbital debris, reliability analyses).
• Represent multi-disciplinary technical team in the risk management process.
• Lead and maintain project technical processes (configuration control, anomaly management, system safety, fault protection, etc.).
• Support the development of mission design and observatory concept of operations.
• Capture, review, and maintenance of the contents of the requirements database.
• Guide and lead the team in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution, and contingency planning.
• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
Minimum Qualification
• BS/MS or higher-level degree in engineering or applied sciences.
Preferred Qualification
• Spacecraft System Engineering/Electronic and/or Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Software Engineering/ Communication Engineering.
Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
• A system level understanding of spacecraft subsystem design
• Good program management skills
• Excellent verbal communications and presentations skills
• Excellent writing skills with a proven ability to generate high quality technical documentation
• Excellent organizational, management and team working skills
