Talk Talent To Me LIVE Featuring Marvin Stickel, Amy Knapp

What do you get when you combine a room full of recruiters, a table full of wine and hors d’oeuvres, and Hired’s weekly recruiting podcast?

Well, there’s no punchline, but here’s the answer: pure talent acquisition magic.

That’s what happened when Talk Talent To Me, your favorite HR Tech vendor podcast, recorded in front of a live audience for the first time last week. If you’re FOMO averse, now is your chance to close out of this window, because I’m about to hit you over the head with a multimedia recap of the entire event. Marvin previously lead sourcing at Coinbase, Pandora, and founded the very first diversity sourcing team at Google in 2011. Marvin has hot take after hot take about authenticity, the attitude talent folks should affect in order to make meaningful impact at their organization, and the importance of perspective diversity, including perspectives that to date have been labeled undesirable.

Also joining us was Redpoint Ventures’ Senior Talent Partner, Amy Knapp. Amy advises the myriad companies in Redpoint’s portfolio, sharing her experience about how they can build a well-tuned recruiting machine. Previously, Amy was Director of Recruiting for Chegg, where she hired all manner of esoteric roles for the company’s IPO.

Amy and Marvin discussed their current roles, played some recruiting-centric games, and ranted about their pet peeves. For example, here’s a snippet of Amy describing her least favorite Boston accent impression, that of Kevin Costner:
